23rd international conference on VLSI design was held at Nimhans Convention Center, Bangalore from January 3 -7, 2010. In the same venue 9th international conference on embedded systems was also conducted. It was a joint conference forum for VLSI designers and researchers to present and discuss various aspects of VLSI Design, electronic design automation (EDA, embedded systems, and the supporting technologies. it covered almost all the area of activities in the VLSI and Embedded fields. The five-day technical program comprised of three days of regular paper sessions, special sessions, industry presentation sessions, various discussion sessions , design contests and industrial demonstrations, and the remaining two days with full-day tutorials.
The theme for this conference was set as “Affordable Technology for Emerging Markets”. The electronic semiconductor systems are present in multiple applications along with the emerging market in health care, entertainment, robotics and so many activities. These markets are looking forward a blend of the technology and its affordability. The conference was a success in terms of the quality of the technical program it put together. This year, the responsibility for the technical program has been undertaken by Prof. Niraj Jha from Princeton University, USA and Dr. Rubin Parekhji from Texas Instruments, India. The regular paper submissions were arranged under seven heads: Architectures, VLSI CAD, Front-end Design, Test and Verification, Lowpower Design, Circuits and Technologies, and Emerging Applications and Technologies. Each track was chaired by two experts. Out of 320 paper submissions from around the world, 70 were selected and presented.
